Brian Capogna, MD, is a Long Island native and orthopedic surgeon whose practice focuses on injuries to the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. He treats athletes of every level, active adults, and patients seeking to regain everyday mobility.

After graduating magna cum laude from Villanova University, Dr. Capogna earned his medical degree with distinction in orthopedic research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed orthopedic surgery residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he served as executive chief resident.

He later completed a sports medicine fellowship at Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center, training in advanced surgical and nonsurgical treatment of sports injuries.

Training & experience

From weekend warriors to professional athletes.

During fellowship, Dr. Capogna served as assistant team physician for the NCAA Division I Troy Trojans and participated in the care of athletes from the University of Alabama, Auburn University, the Birmingham Barons, and WWE.

His specialized interests include hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears, as well as UCL reconstruction and repair for throwing athletes.
